BADMINTON AND CHESS KICK OFF THE SERIES OF SPORTS CHAMPIONSHIPS ORGANIZED BY THE TREASURER’S SPORTS AND WELFARE CLUB

SERDANG – The Treasurer’s Sports and Welfare Club (KSKB) continues to strengthen the culture of an active lifestyle and sportsmanship among staff of the Treasurer’s Office through the organisation of badminton and chess competitions, which were open to all staff of the Treasurer’s Office.

The organisation of these two events is among KSKB’s initiatives to provide staff with a platform to engage in recreational activities, develop their talents and strengthen relationships in an atmosphere of healthy and positive competition.

The badminton competition was held on 31 July 2026 at the Sports Academy courts, involving four teams: Bank Islam, Maybank, RHB and CIMB. Three categories were contested: mixed doubles, men’s doubles and women’s doubles.

In the competition, Bank Islam emerged as champions, followed by CIMB as runners-up, while Maybank finished third and RHB fourth.

Meanwhile, the chess competition was held on 21 August 2026 at the BPOB Discussion Room, with participation from the same four teams. The chess competition was conducted in a team format, with three participants representing each team.

Maybank emerged as champions of the chess competition, while Bank Islam finished second. RHB placed third, while CIMB finished fourth.

The organisation of these two events not only provided staff with opportunities to sharpen their sporting skills and talents, but also served as a platform to foster teamwork, discipline, cooperation and a sense of camaraderie among staff of the Treasurer’s Office.

More significantly, these activities also serve as an early training and preparation platform for the 2027 Treasurer’s Department Sports Games of Malaysian Public Universities (SUKRIM 2027), with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) set to host the event. Continued participation in sporting activities is expected to enhance the level of preparedness and identify talented members of the Treasurer’s Office who have the potential to represent the university.

As a continuation of these efforts, KSKB will organise various other sporting events in the coming months. The activities, to be held progressively, are expected to provide more opportunities for staff to participate in a variety of sports according to their interests, abilities and individual preferences.

The implementation of various sporting events is also expected to encourage broader participation among staff of the Treasurer’s Office, thereby fostering a healthier, more active and harmonious workplace culture.

The commitment and enthusiasm demonstrated by all participants throughout the competitions prove that sporting activities can serve as an effective medium for strengthening cooperation, team spirit and the overall well-being of the workforce.

KSKB hopes that the series of sporting activities planned will continue to receive strong participation and support from all staff of the Treasurer’s Office, not only as preparation for SUKRIM 2027, but also as a platform to strengthen relationships among colleagues and promote a healthy and active lifestyle
