BENCHMARK VISIT TO APMKL, THE DRIVE TO EXCELLENCE FOR BURSAR OFFICE JKKP

SERDANG-5 NOVEMBER 2019: The safety of the lives, people and property of civilians and staff in the event of a disaster is the main agenda of the Bursar Office's Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Committee. To further enhance the knowledge and experience of the committee members, a visit to the Kuala Lumpur District Public Defense Force (APM) with 16 Bursar Office staff led by Mr Mohd 'Akhi was held on November 5, 2019.

APM, or better known as JPAM, is an agency under the Prime Minister's Department in the role of training as many people as possible in the areas of public safety and security and also doing disaster relief work or providing protection to safeguard the lives, people or property of the public in the event of a disaster.

The visit was initiated with a briefing on the background, function and role of Mrs. Noraliza bj Haji Yusop. At the Malaysian Emergency Response System (MERS) Call Center, Bursar's office staff was briefed on the emergency call handling method at 999 and had the opportunity to see live sessions of responding to 999 emergency telephone calls by APM personnel on duty. The staff was then taken to the Operations Control Center, APM Kuala Lumpur District where they were assigned officers and equipment used for operations such as Ambulances, tree cutting tools and snake catching where staff had the opportunity to witness demonstrations of snake capture by trained officers at APM.

According to Mr Mohd Ákhi as head of the delegation, “the visit organized by the Bursar JKKP in addition to raising awareness and information on occupational health and safety among staff in a broader context, it was also a platform to exchange ideas and views with very authoritative agency ''.

Overall, this visit has provided valuable knowledge, awareness and experience to staff that will never be forgotten. Hopefully the spirit of the APM team can be a catalyst for staff to provide excellent service
