Serdang, 5 July 2022 – In conjunction with the implementation of the Public Sector Conducive Ecosystem (EKSA) for the year 2022, the Bursar’s Office actively took part in supporting the initiative by organizing a Clean Environment Gotong-Royong (communal work) Program to achieve its objectives. This activity was carried out from morning until evening, involving the sorting and arranging of unused documents and equipment for disposal according to the applicable procedures.

Madam Hajjah Izariahwati bt Mohd Isa, UPM Bursar, also showed her support for this program. In her opening speech, she encouraged all staff of the Bursar’s Office to stay committed to implementing EKSA, which had been postponed for two years due to the Covid-19 Movement Control Order. Additionally, she urged that the implementation of EKSA should incorporate creative and innovative ideas through the use of recycled materials, supporting the university’s aspiration to expand green practices and savings campaigns.

Before the gotong-royong activity began, a special briefing on the workflow and appreciation of the EKSA concept was delivered online by Mr. Mohd Hafiz bin Amrullah, Chairman of the EKSA Internal Audit Committee for the Bursar’s Office. He briefly explained the methods and criteria for spaces to be evaluated during the UPM audit, expected to be conducted in September or October 2022, which will cover both generic and specific components. These include:

• Office Spaces

• Meeting Rooms

• Training/Lecture Rooms

• Service Counters

• Storage Rooms

• Pantries/Dining Areas

• Prayer Rooms (Surau)

• Toilets

• Printing Rooms, etc.

Mr. Mohd Hafiz also emphasized that EKSA implementation at the Bursar’s Office should reflect the new EKSA elements—corporate image, conducive work environment, diversity, and go-green values. To recognize and encourage a healthy competitive culture between zones, the Audit Committee will also organize competitions such as:

• Best Zone

• Best Officer’s Room

• Best Staff Workstation

• Best Toilet

Overall, the gotong-royong activity went smoothly as planned, and most importantly, it fostered a strong spirit of teamwork and cooperation among the Bursar’s Office staff.
