SERDANG, 3 July 2021 – The inaugural Professional Finance For Non-Finance (ProFiNoF) Pilot Workshop was successfully organized by the Bursar’s Office of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), in collaboration with the Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKEPT). The virtual workshop was conducted via the Zoom platform from 28–29 June and 1–2 July 2021, running as half-day sessions from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

This pilot workshop attracted participation from senior management officers (Grade 48 and above) representing 17 public universities across Malaysia, with a total of 27 participants taking part in the 4-day program.

The main objective of the ProFiNoF pilot workshop was to refine and enhance the ProFiNoF Module, which was developed by the UPM Bursar’s Office with funding from AKEPT. The module aims to assist university senior management and non-financial officers by providing a clear, practical reference that explains financial processes and compliance with established financial management standards.

The module development was spearheaded by YBhg. Dato’ Zulkiflee Othman, Bursar of UPM, with the support of 25 finance officers (W44–W54) as module developers and 7 finance officers (W41) serving as the secretariat.

According to the Bursar of UPM, “The ProFiNoF pilot workshop was specially organized to gather feedback and insights from both non-finance managers and finance managers, to further improve the module.”

Throughout the four-day session, the secretariat recorded valuable feedback and suggestions from participants, aimed at strengthening the content and delivery of the ProFiNoF module. It is hoped that this collaborative initiative between AKEPT and the UPM Bursar’s Office will result in a comprehensive and impactful resource that meets the needs of its intended audience.
