Serdang, 08 August 2022 - The Reading Corner in the office can be used as an effective channel to apply the practice of reading among employees, customers, students, the public or anyone who deals in the office. The Bursar's Office strongly supports the UPM initiative led by UPM's Sultan Abdul Samad Library so that each Responsibility Center (PTJ) creates a Reading Corner realized through the Read@Uni Program. The Reading Corner competition between PTJ is one of the earliest programs that was launched as early as 2019. At the Bursar's Office, we have realized Read@Bursar which is a Book Cafe concept and has been successfully selected as the third place winner in 2019 in conjunction with the Celebration of Service Quality and Innovation Day (HKIP) at UPM. However, the Covid-19 epidemic that hit the country in 2020 and 2021 limited the implementation of any physical competition at UPM in those 2 years.

This year, UPM has made strides by upgrading the competition category 'Read@Uni Prize' to 'Read@Uni Award' which is seen to fuel healthy competition between PTJs at UPM. Taking this initiative, Read@Bursar Committee members have generated an idea to upgrade this Book Cafe with a new look with a 'nature' background to attract the interest and focus of employees, students and customers who deal to stop by and read in this very strategic corner located in the foyer of the Bursar's Office, Putra Chancellery Building. The opening ceremony of the new-look Book Café Read@Bursar was perfectly officiated by Puan Hjh Izariahwati binti Mohd Isa, Bursar of UPM on 08 August 2022 by highlighting the innovation of a better and systematic book storage system (Librarika System). Various activities and interesting programs will be held to foster interest in reading, especially among staff, such as crossword puzzles, tik tok/reels, conversation and others.

On this date, Puan Bursar also inaugurated the newly created Take5 Corner at the Bursar's Office as a result of the initiative of the Administrative Section staff. The Take5 corner was inspired by the need to be at temporary resting place for staff who want to get rid of stress and calm the mind in order to regain focus to resume work in the office.

Hopefully these 2 new and rebranded corners will be the focus of all employees and customers to relax healthily while adding knowledge
