EXCITING ASSESSMENT OF THE GLORIOUS MALAYSIAN FLAG WAVING COMPETITION AT THE BURSAR'S OFFICE

Serdang, August 29, 2022 - The evaluation of the Jalur Gemilang Waving competition at the Bursar's Office on 24 August 2022 by the judges began with a review of the journey to independence by the emcee starting with the London Agreement. This agreement is important because it is the starting point for the independence we have achieved now. A conference called the Malaya Merdeka Conference to demand independence for Malaya was held in London. The group demanding the independence of Malaya was led by Y.T.M. Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj. As a result of the Malaya Merdeka Conference, the Federation of Malaya Independence Agreement, also known as the London Agreement, was signed on February 8, 1956 in London. On February 20, 1956, the Merdeka delegation returned safely to Malaya. Their return has been celebrated with great enthusiasm in a large gathering held in Malacca. Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra later declared the independence date of the Federation of Malaya.

A video showing of the declaration of independence for a few minutes took the judges and staff as well as the audience back through this historic era. A short skit full of enthusiasm and an atmosphere full of excitement was presented by the staff of the Bursar's Office in the foyer of the Bursar's Office which is in the corner of the Book Café which was just inaugurated by Mrs. Bursar. A sketch showing Tunku Abdul Rahman (played by Encik Wan Mohd Zahid) returning from Melaka after making the declaration of Independence on 20 February 1956 where at that time his return to his home was welcomed by his wife (played by Puan Farhanie) and also the villagers.

A standing ovation was given to the actors by the audience consisting of Bursar's Office staff who watched physically and who followed live from the Bursar's Office Facebook.

In addition, the jury was presented with a video speech interpreting the spirit of independence from several Bursar Office staff.

After showing the video, the jurors were taken on a tour of the merdeka semarak room created by the work of the bursars who used all recycled items for the glittering strip project followed by the opening gimmick of the 2022 Bursar Office Merdeka Semarak launch by UPM Bursar, Hajjah Izariahwati Mohd Isa.

The judging ended with a singing video by the late Sudirman Haji Arshad entitled 31 August which was enthusiastically welcomed by the staff of the Bursar's Office. Hopefully the victory belongs to the Bursar's Office this time
