Serdang, 11 February 2023 - The Gombak Petanque Club and the Gombak District Petanque Association (PETGOM) have jointly organized the Invitation Double Petanque Championship which has involved a total of thirty-two (32) groups which are only open to participants around Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya only and was held at the Petanque Arena, International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM), Gombak, Kuala Lumpur. According to the conditions set by the organizers, this tournament is a "Double Open" which means that a group consists of two participants regardless of gender and is held as a "Double Knock Out" which means that each group that wins twice without losing is The group champion and the group that becomes the Group Champion and Runner-up will move on to the next level. Through the list of participants, there are several groups representing their respective agencies such as the Police Training Center (PULAPOL) and the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) as well as two (2) groups representing Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) to give great support to the participants. another. Among other things, this tournament is also participated by petanque clubs such as Setia Alam Petanque Club (SAPC) as well as a combination of several individual participants to form a group.

One (1) group representing UPM is made up of staff from the Bursar's Office, namely Mr. Mohd Asri Bin Abdullah and Mr. Mohamad Halim Bin Mohamad Wahab, who are among the staff who often represent the Bursar's Office, especially in Petanque Tournaments held inside and outside UPM. For the record, this is the second time Encik Mohd Asri and Encik Mohamad Halim are in the same group after pairing up at the UPM Open Petanque Championship (Petanque Double Open Championship) held on 7-8 January 2023 organized by the Center for Co-Curriculum and Student Development, UPM which which has successfully passed the group stage and then qualified for the second round which is at the level of the 32 best groups. In this tournament, one group representing UPM lost in the preliminary stage while another group qualified up to the quarter-final stage. Overall, this tournament was won by ATM by receiving a cash prize of RM500.00 while GKK lost in the final stage and finished second overall with a cash prize of RM300.00. It is hoped that tournaments like this can continue in the future to ensure that sports like this continue to be lined up with great players in the future.
