SERDANG, 28 January 2020 – All work processes carried out by UPM personnel must comply with Government Circulars that are continuously updated by the Malaysian Treasury through the Treasury Circulars Portal, accessible via http://ppp.treasury.gov.my. In line with this, the Bursar’s Office organized a Procurement Management Seminar at the Teaching Hospital Auditorium, UPM, which was attended by approximately 250 officers from the Management & Professional as well as Academic categories representing all Responsibility Centres (PTJ).
To ensure a deeper understanding among participants, the Bursar’s Office invited representatives from the Ministry of Finance Malaysia who are highly experienced in procurement and policy, namely Mr. Taufik Mohamed Mustafa and Ms. Fara Anwary. In addition, the Chief of the Internal Audit Division shared findings from procurement audits conducted at several PTJs. The Head of the Procurement Finance Division, Ms. Norlian Ismail, also took the opportunity to present on the enforcement of the updated Procurement SOP, which took effect on 1 January 2020.
The seminar successfully delivered clearer insights into the principles, policies, and methods of procurement, as well as the management of procurement contract administration at the PTJ level in UPM. Participants were also made aware of non-compliance issues identified by internal audits and were advised on steps to prevent recurring audit findings.
The Bursar’s Office remains committed to ensuring that all university officers and staff receive ongoing training in procurement matters at their respective departments and centres.
