SERDANG, August 2, 2021 – The Occupational Safety and Health Committee (JKKP) of Bursar's Office, in collaboration with non-governmental representatives (NGOs), namely the Kuala Lumpur Fire Prevention Organization (PPKKL), organised online Fire Prevention Briefing for Bursar’s Office employees. Mrs Brenda Suah delivered a comprehensive briefing that lasted nearly two hours and was attended by 75 people. The briefing's agenda included the following items:
1) Hand sanitizer has the potential to ignite a fire.
2) Electricity consumption rate during the Movement Control Order (MCO) season.
3) A meeting place in the event of an emergency while at home.
4) Research into the causes of fires in Malaysia.
The primary goal of this briefing was to raise awareness about fire hazards and disseminate knowledge about fire prevention measures. Participants were also taught on the use and choosing fire prevention equipment such as smoke detectors and fire extinguishers for in-vehicle or on-premises needs.
Through this collaboration, participants gained valuable information and proper fire prevention procedures to reduce the risk of death and loss at home or work. Hopefully, from this effort, the participants will have the knowledge and confidence to take the appropriate procedures and not panic in the event of a fire, ensuring the safety of themselves, their families, and the community.
