GREEN SUSTAINABILITY ACTIVITIES

Serdang, May 24, 2024: In conjunction with the Implementation of the Quality Award and Administration Management Star Rating - Quality Day & Service Innovation (HKIP) UPM 2023/2024 under the Administration Star Management Component Transformation and Green Sustainability Sub-Component (Champion of the Campus Green Sustainability Committee) and the Small Green Sustainability Committee, the Bursar's Office has organized a reforestation and office area cleanup activity to support green sustainability. The implementation period of this HKIP is from August 1, 2023, to July 31, 2024.

The purpose of this collective effort is for the replanting of trees by clearing creeping grass around potted plants and also the planting spaces for flower and vegetable plants around the Central Operations Management Division (BPOB). This collective effort involves nearly 25 staff from each department and section who are fully cooperative to ensure the smooth running of the activity and the cleaned areas can be planted with new trees.

The collective activity started with stretching exercises to boost morale and freshness after facing real tasks and also to provide an opportunity for staff to cooperate and enjoy nature. Then, all staff enjoyed a light breakfast to provide energy before the collective effort began. Most male staff members cleaned/weeded in areas that required physical strength for weeding and hoeing the soil for replanting flower plants surrounded by used mineral bottles. Replanting trees and cleaning the office area were the main focus of this activity, which is an important step in maintaining greenery and supporting UPM's sustainability goals. Involving nearly 25 staff from various departments and sections, this activity demonstrates a high commitment to environmental conservation.

In addition to enhancing the beauty of the office landscape, the involvement of all staff also fosters a spirit of cooperation among employees. Other planned projects, such as using rainwater to water plants and creating a Therapy Garden corner, demonstrate ongoing commitment to creating a more environmentally friendly office environment.

Initiatives like these not only benefit the environment but also the welfare and well-being of staff.

The collective effort ended at 11:00 AM and everything planned was successfully completed.
