HEAVY WHEN STRIPPED, LIGHT WHEN MOVED

Serdang, 14 August 2025 – On 28 July 2025, Puan Nor Syafikah binti Bahrin, a staff member of the Procurement Finance Section, Bursar's Office, was struck by misfortune when her house caught fire. As a result of the fire, all household items were destroyed or damaged. The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical short circuit, which was noticed by a neighbor who happened to see smoke coming from the kitchen area. At the time of the incident, she and her husband were at work while their children were at school. No casualties were reported.

The fire has had a significant impact on her family's life as all the belongings in the house were destroyed and had to be discarded.

As a gesture of care and support, the Director of WAZAN, representatives from the Registrar's Office, and representatives from KEPERTAMA visited her home on 14 August 2025 at 10:30 a.m. The purpose of the visit was to see the condition of the home firsthand and assess what kind of assistance was needed. Representatives from the Bursar's Office were also present during the visit.

During the visit, the representatives not only came to provide donations but also offered words of encouragement. The Director of WAZAN encouraged her and her family to remain patient in facing this trial. The contributions offered have helped ease the burden faced by Puan Nor Syafikah and her family. This visit also served as a symbol of solidarity and demonstrated the spirit of kinship among the UPM community during difficult times.

This initiative reflects the strong sense of togetherness and humanity among the UPM community. May she continue to be granted strength and perseverance in facing the challenges ahead.
