SERDANG, 15 March 2022 – The Asset Management Finance Division, Bursar’s Office, organized the Medical Store Management Procedure Course to enhance the understanding of store officers regarding effective store management procedures, specifically for officers working at the UPM Teaching Hospital, University Health Centre, and Veterinary Medical Hospital. This course, attended by 83 Store Officers and Assistant Store Officers from various departments, was held physically at the UPM Teaching Hospital Auditorium following strict Movement Control SOPs and was also conducted via teleconference for officers who could not attend in person.
Participants were briefed on the mandatory regulations and the procedures for managing medical stores, which included processes such as receiving, registration, usage, maintenance, inspection, disposal, write-offs, and stock loss.
The course aimed to explain how to manage stock, including Receiving, Recording, Storage, Issuance, Inspection, Safety, Cleanliness, Disposal, Loss, and Write-off. The scope at UPM that follows the requirements of MPSAS 12 includes:
(i) Pharmaceutical supplies
(ii) Health and Dental medical supplies
The Asset Management Division also provided an explanation about the implementation of Medical Stores at UPM, highlighting the various categories of stores that need to be understood by the respective departments.
It is hoped that with this workshop, the departments will have a clearer understanding of the procedures for managing stores in accordance with the MPSAS specifications.
