Serdang, 12 September 2025 – The G8 Appreciation Ceremony was held with great festivity as a gesture of gratitude to the athletes who had worked tirelessly to bring pride to the G8 group during the University Staff Sports Championship (SUSTAF), which took place from 30 June to 27 July 2025.

The ceremony aimed to celebrate the achievements and high commitment of G8 members who sacrificed their time and energy while consistently demonstrating sportsmanship throughout the championship. It also served as a platform to recognise the noble efforts of every athlete and official who continuously provided unwavering support to ensure G8's excellence in the various sporting events contested.

One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the Role Model Award (Male Category) to a staff member from the Bursar’s Office, Mr. Mohamad Halim bin Mohamad Wahab. He was selected as the recipient of this prestigious award after successfully contributing two gold medals to G8 in the Petanque and Tenpin Bowling events.

This achievement not only brought pride to the G8 community but also served as an inspiration to fellow colleagues to remain active in sports activities. As mentioned by Mr. Muhazam Mansor, the Registrar of UPM and Chairman of the UPM Staff Sports Social and Welfare Committee, during the opening ceremony of SUSTAF, the championship represents the university’s commitment to strengthening a culture of holistic excellence among staff.
SUSTAF is not solely focused on work excellence, but also emphasises the physical and mental well-being of the campus community. It connects staff members through a noble spirit of sportsmanship and reinforces camaraderie at all levels.
