SERDANG, 3 July – The issue of QR payment fraud is gaining more attention in the era of financial digitization. Although this method is simple and fast, there are several weaknesses that can be exploited by irresponsible parties. Further to that, the Bursar's Office, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has implemented a new initiative by introducing the use of RHB Dynamic DuitNow QR (DNQR) Soundbox complete with keypad at several campus locations as a measure to improve security and efficiency in financial transactions.
This device is an innovative technology that allows transactions to be made using QR codes more easily, quickly and securely. It is equipped with a voice feedback system and a visual display that provides immediate confirmation of each successful transaction. This reduces the risk of fraud, human error and confusion in cashless payments.
The built-in calculator function allows the payment amount to be calculated directly, making it more practical for businesses that involve large transaction volumes such as food and beverage (F&B) businesses and retail. It also helps speed up the payment process and increase customer satisfaction.
So far, five locations around UPM have implemented the use of Dynamic DNQR Soundbox, namely at Putramart, L'apprenti Restaurant & Deli, University Veterinary Hospital (UVH), UPM Swimming Pool and Integrated Farm, Farm 10. UPM is committed to continuing to support digital transformation in line with current financial technology developments.
