SERDANG, 07 October 2020 - The initiative of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) to generate income while reducing dependence on government grants has been proven by the launch of the sale of special vehicle registration numbers with the prefix "UPM".

In line with the slogan 'Bid Buy Contribute’, UPM targets sales to those who want to contribute to the University, especially UPM alumni, staff, individuals and outside organizations.

This initiative is also a platform used by the University to create a network of cooperation with external parties to obtain donations and endowment funds for the continuation of the University's core activities.Held at the UPM Briefing Hall, the ceremony was officiated by the Chairman, Board of Directors of the University (UPM), YAM Dato 'Seri DiRaja Syed Razlan Syed Putra Jamalullail.

Also present at the ceremony was the Vice Chancellor of UPM, Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman and Bursar UPM, Datuk Zulkiflee Othman as the Chairman of the UPM Special Registration Number Master Committee.A total of 9,999 special registration numbers will be offered starting with UPM 1 to UPM 9999 within three years.

Bidders can make bids through the website putrabid.upm.edu.my starting at 12.00 noon today with bids starting from RM1,000 up to RM150,000. As a result of these sales, UPM is targeting a total sales of RM14 million.The sales category of registration numbers is divided into 5, namely Super Platinum, Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze. The results of the bid can be known after 7 days from the start date of the bid
