THE BURSAR'S LAST FAREWELL:HARD TO SAY GOODBYE,BUT IT MUST BE DONE.

SERDANG, 14 September 2021 – After 33 years, 3 months, and 15 days of dedicated service to Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), the Bursar’s Office proudly organized a heartfelt virtual farewell event titled “Bingkisan Terakhir Bursar” (The Bursar’s Final Tribute), which was streamed live via Facebook. The event was attended by staff from various departments (PTJs), students, and even colleagues from other public universities.

Dato’ Zulkiflee Othman, a name well-known not only among the staff of the Bursar’s Office but also throughout UPM, officially ended his public service on 15 September 2021. In appreciation of his unparalleled contributions, a special retirement ceremony was held on 14 September 2021 at 2:30 PM.

Despite the modest nature of the event, it was filled with warmth and joy while complying with the standard operating procedures set by OSH UPM and the National Security Council (MKN). The program began with a prayer recitation, followed by a multimedia presentation and the ceremonial cutting of pulut kuning (a traditional celebratory dish).

After a moving poetry recital by Pn. Noraini Abdullah, the symbolic Handover Ceremony took place, where Dato’ Zulkiflee officially handed over his duties to Puan Hajjah Izariahwati Mohd Isa. One of the most memorable segments of the event was Dato’ Zulkiflee’s final address, during which he shared his experiences, both joyful and challenging, while interacting virtually with former colleagues and past Bursars.

The event was further enlivened by the presentation of a special photobook and a symbolic gift tray representing tokens of appreciation from each section and division of the Bursar’s Office. A video was also shown capturing the emotional moment when he clocked out for the very last time—a lasting memory. His portrait was hung alongside those of former Bursars, leaving a legacy for future generations.

To conclude the event, Dato’ Zulkiflee was accompanied by 11 tray bearers to his car parked at the foyer of Bangunan Canselori Putra. After bidding farewell and expressing his heartfelt thanks, he drove off to visit four key departments around UPM to say his final goodbyes before heading home.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who made the Bingkisan Terakhir Bursar event possible, especially the heads of departments and the Administration Section of the Bursar’s Office for their coordination and dedication. We wish Dato’ Zulkiflee Othman peace, joy, and abundant happiness in his retirement, surrounded by his beloved family.
